One of the community-based programs provided through Texas Health and Human Services is Family Care (FC). This program is for adults who have functional limitations that reduce their capability to perform the activities of daily living on their own. Such activities include bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and others.

The program involves the provision of non-skilled, non-technical attendant care services where the supervision of a registered nurse is not required. Basically, these are services that are still essential in our day-to-day lives, but assistance can be provided to the client by most Primary Home Care agencies with or without the oversight of a healthcare professional like a nurse or the client’s physician.

In most cases, a trained home care attendant or aide performs Family Care services which help clients to live functional lives in their homes or any decent living environment of their choosing.
